Legacy of Love Project

This letter is intended to provide general
information and contact info for the
“Legacy of Love Project” charity.
Thank you for taking the time to share
our enthusiasm. It is always rewarding to
know that everything collected gets to its
destination and since volunteers give their
time not one penny is spent on administration fees.

We have all been volunteering with Canadian Food
for Children for many years and get our
inspiration from Dr. Simone and his wife Joan
who were called to help the poor by Mother
Teresa. Their dedication to the poor is amazing
and we strive to be just a little like them.
Our kits go on containers sent to needy
countries along with relief food from the
Canadian Food for Children warehouse at
1258 Lakeshore Rd. Toronto.

However, it takes lots of collecting, sorting and
packing, done presently in our homes and at the
warehouse before they arrive at their destination.
We are always looking for volunteers, so if you
would like to give a bit of your time please call us.
We would love to hear from you.

We collect the following items for our kits: Diaper pins,
plastic pants, baby & flannel receiving blankets,
washcloths, sleepers, baby clothing, socks, hats,
bars of ivory soap and undershirts and small toys.
The sizes we are looking for are newborn
to size 6. Don’t forget, girls don’t wear pants and
we are looking for girls dresses for all the same sizes.

The sisters give the kits to the mothers as a gift
after their babies are born at the hospital in Ludzi.
They usually deliver in their rural huts with no
health care provider so our kit incentive has
increased the number of hospitaldeliveries, therefore
safer births, decreasing infant and mother
mortality. The mothers are very grateful for their
kit as they usually have nothing for their newborns.

If you would like to donate money, ROSE Volunteers for
Community Assistance is a registered charity and we
accept credit card, cheque, or cash. We give income
tax receipts for any donations given.

within 24 hours. We buy diaper pins, and
plastic pants with all donations. For this
year 2008, we need to purchase 6000 pins
and 3000 plastic pants for a value of about $2500.
We truly appreciate all donations.
